Delete your dnf account

dnf · Last updated 27 August 2026

You can delete your dnf account, and everything stored against it, at any time. There is no waiting period, no retention window you have to sit through, and nothing to negotiate with us about. This page explains both routes and exactly what goes.

From inside the app

This is the fastest way, and it takes effect immediately.

  1. Open dnf and sign in.
  2. Open Settings from your profile.
  3. Scroll to Account.
  4. Tap Delete account and confirm.

You are signed out as soon as it finishes, and the account cannot be signed back into.

If you cannot get into the app

If you have lost access to your account, or you have already removed dnf from your phone, write to hello@getdnf.com from the email address the account was made with, and ask us to delete it. Say delete my account and include your dnf handle if you remember it.

We will confirm the request, delete the account, and write back to tell you it is done. Expect a reply within 7 days, and completion within 30 days of your request at the very outside. We may ask you one question to confirm the account is yours, and we will not ask you for a password.

What is not deleted

DataWhy it stays
Book records: titles, authors, covers and page countsThese describe published books, not you. They are not personal data and are shared by everyone using dnf.
Encrypted backups held by our hosting providerKept for a short period for disaster recovery and overwritten in the ordinary course. They are never used to restore a deleted account.

Nothing about you is kept for advertising or analytics, because dnf does neither. What we hold and why is set out in full in the Privacy Policy.

Want your data before it goes

Settings → Imports and exports → Export your library writes every book, rating and review to a CSV file you keep. Do that first if you want a copy; deletion cannot be undone.
